CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

Distribution System is part of the power system. Distribution system is useful to distribute electricity from large power source (Bulk Power Source) to the consumer, as described in the previous article here.
Electric power generated by large power stations with a voltage of 11 kV to 24 kV voltage is increased by Raising transformer substations with the voltage to 70 kV, 154kV, 220kV or 500kV then channeled through the transmission line.
From the transmission line, voltage is reduced again to 20 kV with the voltage step-down transformer at the distribution substation, then the system power supply voltage is performed by the primary distribution channel. From this primary distribution channel distribution substation take-voltage substations to distribution transformer reduced voltage with a low voltage system, which is 220/380 volts.
Next channeled by the secondary distribution channel to consumers. With this it is clear that the distribution system is an essential part of the electric power system as a whole.

At low voltage electrical systems there are changes in current and voltage during the on-off switch, current flows still exist but the current changes are not immediately go away but the flow of new slowly be lost. The process of change flows always follow the time change when we conduct an on-off at the switch, the change process can be illustrated by graphs.
Based on the above background the writer intends to make an application for a portrait of the current change process so that visible differences anatra bias currents and voltages are stable, so in this thesis entitled: "SIMULATION OF CHANGES IN FLOW AND STRESS ON OPENING SWITCHES"
